Business Protect was started by Martin Byrne after 7 years in the financial services industry and seeing how a) banks treated their clients knowingly and b) how little generalist practitioners knew about the niche products that exist in the business protection sector.

It’s based on the theory that you can’t possibly be good at everything so trying to be the best in one field can deliver massive value to a client and building a team of specialists even more so.

Chris Knight is an expert in commercial insurance and like Martin is relaxed, unstuffy, has a kid in a rock and roll band and believes in delivering. Having Chris on board is a natural fit and enables us to help our clients even more.

Service is everything and at Business Protect we have the systems and processes in place to make sure that delivery of an excellent service to our clients remains paramount. Together with the undeniable integrity of our business partners, New Leaf IFA Ltd and New Leaf Commercial Ltd, with whom we have a very good and close relationship we work hard to deliver where it counts the most to the UK business owner, the bottom line.

Martin Byrne

Martin ex musician who arrived in the UK in 1985 from NZ and spent the next 15 years gigging, recording and doing part time jobs of huge variety until he met his wife and his first child was on the way. Then, like Ziggy, he had to break up the band and get a real job. Being naturally good with people and social interaction generally he moved form sound design into sales into business development in the financial services industry and then became qualified. He moved up North to where his wife is from after the death of his father made him realise that life is way too short and he wanted his children to enjoy their grandparents and visa versa. HE manages a couple of amazing artists , is the regional leader 4N for the northwest and loves his job because it genuinely helps people at their worst time of life.

Chris Knight

My previous experience includes 13 years with a major insurer with varied roles from statistics, direct marketing as well as Account Management for the Banks, Centralised Lenders and Building Society sectors. I left to become Compliance Manager and then Divisional Manager - Insurance for the then largest mortgage network. After moving to Scotland I was General Manager of an Insurance Brokerage who specialised in Insurance for Landlords as well as Tenant Referencing.

I am Area Leader for the 4Networking Business Group at Falkirk, Livingston, Stirling & Strathclyde.

I run BHAlba - Scottish Seagulls, who are a group of Brighton & Hove Albion FC supporters who live in Scotland.
